Went in the morning to Bessbrook for Oil and Petrol and in the evening again conducted a Rifle Shoot at Cloughinney.

Went to A.C.s Office in the morning and worked there all forenoon. On return Home got Targets ready for Rifle Shoot at Cloughinney.

Went into Armagh in the morning for to get Petrol Pipe repaired and getting new tyres fitted.

Went to Bessbrook R.U.C. Bks in the morning and got stores ready for transport to Armagh, assisted in loading Ton Truck there, then to Bolton and again assisted in getting stores ready and in loading Ton Truck.

Went in the morning to Bolton and did some Office work. Returned Home and again spent the remainder of the day on Bounty Sheets.

Sgt Instr John Adams

This diary was written by my grandfather, Sgt Instructor John Adams of the Ulster Special Constabulary ("B" Specials) during 1926 and 1927. This was a relatively quiet period in the border counties of the newly-formed Northern Irish state, but training still went on.
